Meet Gareth Williams
10 Jul '20
Gareth is our Architectural Technologist, focusing on the design, production and performance of buildings through the use of technology - to achieve stunning results for our clients.
He studied Architectural Technology at Sheffield Hallam University and enjoys the practical, hands-on and creative nature of designing fabulous homes and workplaces.
A love for the slopes took Gareth to Canada to work a ski season after university – during which time he also managed to secure some work in an architects practice – designing everything from snow sheds to prison cells and multi-million pound houses. It’s where he also learnt the Building Information Modelling (BIM) ropes and he is now the BIM expert at William Green Architects.
Following his time in Canada, Gareth came home and began gathering experience in the UK, becoming self-employed and working as a contractor on several high-level projects. He then met William and the rest is history.
Working at William Green Architects, Gareth particularly enjoys the scope for design flair and the range of beautiful buildings he is able to work on. He also enjoys seeing the company evolve and grow. He was lucky enough to take a sabbatical a few years ago and one of his top highlights was exploring the culture, nature and architecture of Japan for a month. The quality of the architectural craftmanship and how the Japanese express authenticity, simplicity of design and form, with a strong connection to nature, are all things that resonate with what he seeks to achieve here at William Green Architects.
Gareth is keen on cycling and he regularly hits the road with William – a fitness fanatic as well. Gareth and his girlfriend have just bought a house together and are looking forward to welcoming a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy there soon.
