Oxford architects thrilled at progress on new Cotswold Farmhouse

Last year our Oxford architects were called to examine the remains of a Cotswold farmhouse. The house had been home to the client when she was a little girl, however in 2017 the original structure was heavily damaged in a devastating fire. The client asked our architects to rebuild the farmhouse within the footprint of the existing, retaining the style of the original features. A sympathetic design ensued, retaining much of the character to the exterior, while creating changes to the interior in order to adapt the layout for modern family life.

We are thrilled to announce progress on-site has gone from strength to strength. Whilst the build only began in the spring, the exterior of the property is all but completed, roof tiles are on and the windows are being fitted. R.C. Spencer builders have surpassed themselves by sourcing Cotswold stone to match that of the old structure and we ensured the remaining windows were kept, to be carefully copied and reproduced. From the principal west elevation, the home is identical to the original. With such amazing progress taking place, the end really is in sight!

Once completed the house will be the perfect family home. There are to be five bedrooms upstairs, two en-suite, a family bathroom and dressing room, not forgetting the all-important craft room! Whilst downstairs, the layout has been arranged for optimal socialising; focusing on the open plan living, dining and kitchen area, with a fantastic walk-in pantry. Off this central area is a new addition to the building, a stunning architecturally designed orangery. On this level there will also be a formal drawing room, substantial boot room, utility and contemporary home cinema.

Over the coming months we will keep you posted on the wonderful finishing touches the clients have in store for the building. One of which is the amazing and substantial roof lantern over the stair hall, already installed. These finishing touches will be helped along by the highly professional team working alongside our Oxford architects, together ensuring this really is a dream home.
