Showcase: Bespoke and high-end architectural design from our Oxfordshire architects
29 Jun '20
Architects are synonymous with bespoke architectural design and our Oxfordshire architects are no exception. They pride themselves on tailoring their designs to our clients’ needs and requests, ensuring each is well planned, thoughtful, and organised. However, it is often mistakenly believed that bespoke architecture comes with an enormous price tag which puts people off. Whilst the process itself is not inexpensive, by using a quality architect, you gain the ability to avoid drastic mistakes, which could lead to astronomical costs later on in the project.
Bespoke architectural design comes with huge benefits on-site; the architects take time to identify more efficient construction methods, enabling the project to stay on track in both timescale and budget. There is a detailed sourcing of building materials also, ensuring the best quality, sustainability and cost effectiveness.
By opting for a design which is bespoke and customised particularly for your needs, you are able to achieve the dream house you have always aspired to. Below is just a sample of some of the incredible architectural designs that our architects have recently created for our clients.
From bungalow to brilliance
Our architects designed a stunning seven-bedroom family home on the footprint of a dilapidated bungalow within a beautiful Oxfordshire village. Using a barn line linear formation to the front elevation, the property does not look out of place alongside the traditional properties in the present streetscape. With ample room for modern family living, including a spacious, open plan living/kitchen diner, this house really is a statement home without being ostentatious or garish.
A ‘traditional’ new build
Bespoke design does not have to be all about modern lines and state of the art technology. It can also be traditional in design, and this new build home in Oxfordshire achieves this beautifully. From the exterior, the home could easily be mistaken for a period Cotswold property, however it was designed by our architects and built from scratch. By working with the local conservation department, using high-end, quality, local materials, the exterior is understated whilst the interior has a luxurious modern feel, full of light, views and unique finishing touches.
The fantastic forest house
Without a doubt, this is the dream home for those wanting a quiet retreat surrounded by nature. Our forest house design uses a unique, parallel formation to allow spatial living accommodation whilst not taking up an unnecessarily large footprint. The property has a mixture of substantial, glazed walls and timber cladding allowing the client to draw the outside in and enabling the property to sit comfortably within its surroundings.
Extending a listed property
A listed property can face planning challenges and often puts people off venturing down the route of extending or altering their home. However, by working with a high-end architect, they can ensure a stylish yet subtle design, working around the planning restrictions and providing the space a modern family requires. This beautiful extension to a listed home in Hook Norton is a prime example of new and old architecture sitting harmoniously side by side. The extension seamlessly links the two buildings together using a gull wing inverted roof, whilst the rainbow zinc cladding complements the existing traditional ironstone.
A striking modern house
Whilst our architects are experts in ensuring their properties sit comfortably within traditional villages, they also specialise in unique modern homes too. This incredible design for a modern home is the epitome of contemporary architecture. The existing property was a dated 1970s bungalow and looked out of place surrounded by multi-million-pound houses. However, rather than simply demolish it, our architects proposed a clever, cost saving design using the existing property’s foundations and not extending the home more than fifty percent from these. The design is simple yet incredibly striking, with glazed walls and elevated sections. A stunning, eye-catching, bespoke design.
The perfect pool room
Luxurious living goes hand-in-hand with top of the range leisure facilities, which are not often available in period properties. The owners of this beautiful Georgian home desired an indoor gym and lap pool. Through clever design, our architects created a seamless extension to the existing house, allowing the clients to journey effortlessly from their gorgeous home into their new, modern, pool extension. The swimming pool area has glazed walls and sliding doors which really bring the outdoors in and allow the family to enjoy the facilities all year round. The addition of the enormous roof light over the swimming pool is the icing on the cake, ensuring a light, inspiring and motivating exercising area.
