Farmhouse redevelopment gathers pace.

The property included barns, stables and other farm buildings in various states of disrepair. The farmhouse had been extended and these additions were of poor quality.
Working with others, our clients began a series of projects. These included new garaging, an annexe and a natural swimming pond plus the designs for a two-storey extension and a garden room.
We have brought all these projects together to make them work as a whole.
The scope of works has steadily evolved. We are now developing the designs for the garden room and the two-storey extension, together with a new single-storey link extension to join the farmhouse to an existing barn. The barn will be refurbished and used for parties.
Alongside extending the farmhouse, we have also worked closely with our clients on its restoration and refurbishment. They like the quirky details of the old farmhouse, but they also like the clean lines of the modern garden room. So we have been careful to blend the old character of the original buildings with contemporary design interventions and install the latest technical services.
Internal walls have been taken back to bare brick, and new mechanical and electrical systems installed and concealed by thermally efficient dry lining, which has then been rendered with a rough finish. Oak timber floorboards have been retained in various widths and lengths, and oak window boards have been cut into the curved reveals of the windows.
The garden room incorporates an internal garden wall that travels up to the new glass wall and out beyond to emphasise the mix of old and new, character and contemporary.
Outside, a four-year landscaping plan is beginning to become established. The site is large, with the farmhouse and outbuildings sitting at its centre with fantastic views.
