Spring 2026 Newsletter

— 24 April 2026

Spring always brings fresh hope and drive to our endeavours, even against a backdrop of global uncertainty, we continue to focus on Architecture and the lasting benefits it brings to people, places, and communities.

Within our sectors we have seen in parts a winter slumber that needs to thaw, but as ever we are positively holding on to green shoots, we continue to push forwards with delivering imaginative, thoughtful designs for our cherished clients.

If you are considering a building project, then we would be pleased to hear from you. We take pride in guiding our clients through every stage of the design process, ensuring that each completed project is both deeply rewarding and distinguished in its design.

On the Drawing Board

We have continued to develop our AI rendering skills, which we share each month on our Instagram account. These posts explore comparisons between AI-generated imagery and outputs from Twinmotion, our primary 3D rendering software.

As our proficiency with tools such as “Nano Banana” has grown, we have been able to significantly elevate the quality of our visualisations. We have greatly enjoyed sharing these evolving outputs with both our clients and our wider audience.

While we remain mindful of the strengths and limitations of AI-driven rendering, our focus is increasingly on careful curation, ensuring that each image communicates clarity, intent, and a true sense of design distinction for all of our audiences.

Planning Submissions

We have been actively progressing a number of projects through the planning stages, including two substantial schemes recently submitted in North Oxfordshire and central London.

In North Oxfordshire, we have submitted proposals to Cherwell District Council for a generous new-build family home, carefully designed to respond to its setting and brief. In parallel, we have been developing and submitting proposals for the renovation and extension of a mews house in central London, now under consideration by Westminster City Council.

Working closely with our trusted planning consultants and project managers, we are monitoring progress with anticipation and look forward to sharing positive updates as these, and other projects, move towards approval.

If you are thinking about starting a design project, do get in touch with our talented team to discuss how we can help you navigate the complex planning process.

Planning Success

Remodelling a Farmhouse

We are delighted to share news of a recent planning success, having secured consent for a substantial farmhouse remodelling and extension project within the West Northamptonshire area.

This scheme presented a number of challenges along the way, making this milestone particularly rewarding. While the project experienced a prolonged determination period of over 12 months, largely due to factors beyond our control. Such timescales, although exceptional, are becoming increasingly common, especially in the case of larger or more sensitive sites and buildings.

Reuse of farm outbuildings

We were also pleased to secure planning consent for the adaptation of a series of former outbuildings at a farmhouse in West Oxfordshire. Our design carefully reuses and celebrates a collection of heritage farm buildings, arranged to form a courtyard setting behind the main house.

The scheme will see the barns thoughtfully restored and transformed into a suite of additional family spaces, connected to the main house, yet with a degree of independence. These new areas will deliver a gym studio, bar area, dining space and snooker room.

Together with the existing home, these additions will create a distinctive and highly sociable setting, ideally suited to both family life and entertaining.

Site updates

As a practice we aim to provide a full suite of Architectural Services for our Clients that align with the RIBA Plan of Work stages, typically delivered through a traditional procurement route. This approach enables us to be involved and support our clients from the beginning to the end, taking a project from concept design, through planning, building regulations, tender packages to contract administration on site.

By remaining closely involved at every stage, we help to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated design journey, often reducing time on site and safeguarding the original vision through to completion.

We also value close collaboration with fellow consultants and specialists. By working with experts in their respective fields, we are able to maintain a clear focus on delivering projects that fully realise the design quality and ambition invested in them.

Completion

Practical Completion has been achieved on a number of our domestic and commercial projects during the first quarter of this year. This is always a significant and rewarding milestone, marking the point at which clients take possession of their new buildings and begin to make them their own.

It is a moment that is keenly anticipated by all involved, often accompanied by a final, concentrated push as project teams work collaboratively to meet the last deadlines and bring each scheme to completion.

A few recent projects to celebrate include:

  • In a West Northamptonshire village, set within a Conservation Area, we have just completed on a new build, four-bedroom family home.
  • In the Cotswolds we have just completed a full refurbishment, remodel, and extension to a beautiful country house.
  • In the market town of Banbury we have completed the remodelling of a high-end dental practice, the work has focused on adapting the main entrances to make the building more accessible to its clientele.

We look forward to providing further detailed insight into each of these project once we have had them professionally photographed, in future newsletters. Additionally, we have had several interesting projects recently begin on site, which we look forward to sharing the site progress of these soon.

Thoughts

We enjoy sharing our thoughts on architecture and design, we regularly publish articles on our website covering various aspects across these topics. Recent articles have included ‘How much are Architectural Fees’ where we outline the typical parameters that influence fees, helping you plan your next project with confidence and clarity. We have also shared an article discussing ‘The importance of the Concept Design Stage’, looking at why this initial stage of design is so critical in a successful design.

William recently shared his thoughts with Build It Magazine, discussing the considerations involved in building a home in a Conservation area, you can find the full article here. If there are any areas of design you would like us to discuss in future publications, do please drop us a note.

As a design practice, we value opportunities to step out of the studio and engage with people in person, to discuss architecture or to meet potential collaborators. Recently, we visited a local Oxfordshire school to discuss the practice of Architecture to their pupils interested in STEM subjects, hopefully inspiring the next generation of designers.

In recent months, we have also attended many industry networking events across London and Oxford. These events are always a pleasure, offering a chance to reconnect and to meet new contacts. We strongly believe in the importance of personal connection, and if you are organising an event you feel we could support, do reach out as we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Finally

Thank you, as always, for your continued interest in our work. If you are considering a project or would simply like to start a conversation, we would be delighted to hear from you.
