The team at William Green Architects have been working hard on a variety of interesting projects during the early part of 2024 and we thought we would bring you this brief update.
It’s great to reconnect with clients, contractors, colleagues and friends and you are welcome to contact us via email or call 0330 320 0665. Please do follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn where we post regular updates. We also have a Pinterest board to inspire you.
We currently have an exciting mix of projects in the pipeline. Amongst them are plans for a multi-dwelling development on a brownfield site in Northamptonshire to reviewing the potential of converting a West London property into flats development.
Our designs, see the image on left, for a large extension to a Grade II listed building on the edge of the Cotswolds recently gained planning permission. Showcasing our commitment to preserving, our heritage, enhancing inherent character, while incorporating modern elements and bringing houses up to today’s living standards.
Overall, our studio is fizzing with creativity, innovation, and ambition as we take on these exciting projects which we look forward to showcasing as they progress from the drawing board to reality.
Several projects have started on site including an intersting extension of a dental surgery in an Oxfordshire village, which will help increase the capacity of the surgery by about 50%. Additionally, a number of projects have reached the practical completion stage including the full refurbishment, extension and interior design of this lovely Arts and Craft house in central Cheltenham. This is always a rewarding time in the project journey, and we like to document the completed projects by commissioning professional photographs which we look forward to sharing with our clients and followers in due course.
This model farmhouse, a charming Grade II listed Georgian dwelling set in five acres of gardens in a Northamptonshire village, underwent a transformative deep refurbishment and expansion, highlighting our expertise in delivering bespoke projects.
Working with a listed property always presents both a challenge and a responsibility. Our alterations delicately preserve its historical essence while catering to modern family life. The contemporary architecture of our new swimming pool extension seamlessly blends into the main house.
Strategic adjustments were made to the internal layout, notably relocating the kitchen to the east wing for improved connectivity with the newly created swimming pool area and a sunlit spacious terrace. This simple yet impactful change enhances the flow and panoramic views throughout the residence, elevating the living experience.
Natural stone is a lovely building material, possessing adaptability, familiarity, and character. At William Green Architects, we take pleasure in harnessing the potential of stone in our projects. Its reusability and distinctive characteristics make it a preferred choice for architects and clients alike.
Stone possesses an inherent hierarchy and scale, influencing its selection across various architectural styles, building types, and locales. Natural Stone's integration into English buildings is deeply rooted in tradition, fostering a timeless connection to this enduring material.
Drawing inspiration from vernacular architecture, we tap into a rich source of knowledge on stone selection and use, bridging past and present with a profound understanding.
As we continue to build our offering and studio, we are looking to recruit a qualified project architect with a minimum of 3 years of experience post Part-3 qualifications to join our close-knit team and help us deliver our client’s visions. Interested candidates, please get in touch with a portfolio via email.
In addition to our current residential services, one of our ambitions is to work more extensively on commercial property and mixed-use projects, including:
Office refurbishments, conversions and new-build offices
Healthcare facilities, including dental surgeries and GP practices
Re-purposing of agricultural buildings to commercial use
Master-planning for farms and estates
Mixed-use schemes
